Guests reading a menu

Guests don’t create an account and we don’t ask them for personal information.

To show restaurants how their menu is used, we count what happens on it: the menu was opened, a dish was opened, the camera view was opened, a dish was added to the order list. Each count stores only the kind of event, the dish, the menu language and the time. It doesn’t include an IP address, a cookie or anything else that identifies the guest.

The order list, search and filters stay in the guest’s browser tab. They are never sent to us or to the restaurant.

The camera view uses the phone’s camera on the phone itself to place the dish on the table. The camera picture isn’t recorded or sent anywhere. On some phones the dish opens in Apple’s or Google’s own AR viewer, which works the same way.

Restaurant owners

When you create an account we store your name, email address and a scrambled form of your password (never the password itself).

We store what you add to your menu: the restaurant’s name and details, dishes, prices, photos, 3D models, opening hours, links and, if you choose to show it, your guest Wi-Fi details. Published menus are public: anyone with the link can see them.

We use your email address to confirm it, to reset your password when you ask, and for messages about your account. We don’t send advertising and we don’t sell or rent your information.

Cookies and browser storage

We use two cookies: one keeps owners logged in, the other remembers the language a visitor picked. There are no advertising or tracking cookies and no third-party analytics.

The browser’s session storage remembers a guest’s order list and filters until the tab is closed, and makes sure each menu visit is counted once.

Services that help us run Seghan

Hosting and file storage: the site runs on our hosting provider’s servers, and uploaded files may be stored with Cloudflare R2.

Email: account emails are sent through an email delivery service.

Photo-to-3D: when an owner asks Seghan to make a 3D model from photos, those photos are sent to an AI 3D-modelling service to build the model.

Menu from a photo: when an owner imports a menu from photos or a PDF, those files and the dish texts are sent to an AI language service to read and translate them.

These providers handle information only to provide their part of the service. Guests’ information is never sent to the AI services.

Security

Connections are encrypted (https) on the live site. Passwords are stored only in scrambled form. To stop abuse, the service briefly keeps the number of requests from each internet address in memory; these numbers aren’t saved.

How long we keep information

Account and menu information is kept while the account exists. Deleting a restaurant deletes its menu, its files, its earlier published versions and its statistics. To delete your whole account, write to [email protected].

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct, export or delete the information we hold about you by writing to [email protected]. Most of it you can change yourself in the dashboard.

If you are in the European Union, the United Kingdom or another place with similar laws, you also have the right to object to or restrict how your information is used, and to complain to your data protection authority.

Children

Restaurant accounts are for adults running a business. Menus can be read by anyone and don’t collect personal information from guests.

Changes

If this policy changes, we’ll update the date at the top. If a change affects owners significantly, we’ll tell them by email before it applies.
